Gloria Bauerline, a true centenarian, hit a remarkable milestone on September 5th as she celebrated her 100th birthday at Transitions Healthcare Gettysburg.
Surrounded by her loving family, friends, fellow residents, and the dedicated staff of the facility, Gloria’s century of life was honored with warmth and joy.
Born and raised in Emmitsburg, Maryland, Gloria is the eldest of ten siblings. Her early years were marked by the responsibility of helping her parents care for her younger brothers and sisters, a duty she embraced with unwavering dedication. Eventually, Gloria ventured out to start her own family.
Life took an unexpected turn when Gloria became a widow at the young age of 43 after her husband’s sudden passing. With four children to raise on her own, Gloria displayed remarkable strength and resilience. She threw herself into her work at Mount St. Mary’s, where she dedicated an impressive 40 years of her life. Gloria held various positions on the campus, always ready to lend a hand wherever needed. Her deep involvement in the seminary and college campus enriched her life, and she cherished every aspect of it.
It was nearly two decades later that Gloria’s life took another beautiful turn when her oldest son introduced her to her second husband at a fish dinner. Their connection was undeniable, and they tied the knot a few years later, sharing 21 cherished years together until his passing.
Gloria’s contributions to her community are not limited to her family and work. She proudly holds the distinction of being the last living charter member of the VFW in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Her involvement in helping establish the local chapter is a source of immense pride for her, and it reflects her commitment to serving others.
Today, Gloria has four children, though sadly one has passed away. She is also blessed with two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each a testament to the rich legacy she has built over her century of life.
